Perfectly Preserved Bundle

Created by Stacey Cogswell
Copyright Stampin'Up!

There are so many wonderful new products in the Holiday Mini, but I think the Prefectly Preserved stamp set and the Cannery Framelits (on page 29) have to on the top of my favorites list.  What really cool too is that Stampin'Up! is now offering a 15% disscount if you order them together.  How cool is that!  They pair perfectly with the Orchard Harvest Designer paper (on page 28.)  I'm crazy for the whole canning thing.  This first card started out with me trying to use a MOJO Monday sketch #247.  If you go to the site, you'll see that they are now on #256 or something.....I like to print off the sketches and keep them in a folder for future use.  It really helps when you need a little creative inspiration.  I also used the new Woodgrain embossing folder plus a little ink rubbing to give the side strip a little texture.  Here is the funny thing, I completely forgot that I had a die to cut out the apples, so I hand cut them....I won't make that mistake again!
Created by Stacey Cogswell
After making the first card, much to my surprise, I received a Starbucks Gift Card in the mail from my dentist, so I decided to send him a thank you card. I used the same sketch, but changed up the stamped images. I use the new silver Stampin'Up Dazzle marker (#128978 page 19 in the Holiday mini) to color in the spoon and I'll have to tell you...it's the first metallic pen I've ever had that didn't run me out of the room by just taking the cap off.  Love it!  I'm sorry to say that the coffee stamps are not Stampin'Up!, but I wanted to share the card with you anyway.

Enjoy!

Second Double Insert Card

Created by Stacey Cogswell
Copyright Stampin'Up!
Here is another version of my double insert card.  This one is horizontal instead if vertical.  I made this card for Del the owner of Clark Printing Co.  He has been super supportive of my Zentangle art and I've designed a few things for him over the past several months.  I can't wait to see the first two designs in print, one of which might be for the Oregon Ultimate Disc team!  We have all kinds of plans to print my art on shirts and fabric for quilts, isn't that exciting!  Anyway, I thought I would share the card with you.  I didn't use Stampin'Up! paper, it was just some paper I had in my black & white stash and the bold "tangled" looking greeting stamp (sorry, is retired), but even though I didn't use all current stuff, it's still a great card with all kinds of potential.

I will include a note for Del and I made him a special Zentangle of the print shops logo.  Hope he likes it!

Double Pouch Card

Created by Stacey Cogswell
Copyright Stampin'Up!
I thought it would be fun to create a card with a couple of pouches for holding notes, a business card or even a picture.  This is the outside of the card with it's ribbon tie closure.  I LOVE the Floral District designer series paper, which you've probably figured out since this is the third card in a row I've posted using it!  I used Rich Raspberry cardstcok as the card base and Daffodil Delight cardstcok for matting.  The flower was created using a punched out flower from the same paper (same as inside card paper) with the other side of the paper being used on the front of the card.  The greeting is retired, but you could use just about any greeting.

This is what the inside looks like.....two pouches for holding things.  I used this card as a thank you to a new customer for placing an order.  It turned out pretty cute!  Hope it inspires you to create something new!

Make it Quick Card

Created by Stacey Cogwwell

I saw a Christmas card here posted on July 5th and thought I would try my version with the new Butterfly punch.  I also wanted to challenge myself to make this card in less than 30 minutes.  What do yo think?  It may need a little tweaking, but it's got potential and it's a great way to use those little pieces of designer series paper that you can't bare to throw away!

Enjoy,

Zentangle Stampin'Up! Style

Created by Stacey Cogswell

About a year ago I was introduced to the art form called Zentangle by my friend Pat Brasch and I was instantly in love.  You'll have to check out the link, but if you like to doodle, you'll love Zentangle. What's cool is you can learn easy ways to make complicated looking designs or tangles and create amazing looking designs.  Anyway, when I saw the new Stampin'Up! stamp set called "Fabulous You" (page 39 of the main catalog), I knew I had to have it!  It looks so much like a Zentangle design without as much work.  I created the card above by stamping first and then filling in parts of the flowers with a black pen.  I also added a few rhinestones for some sparkle.  LOVE IT!  Here is a close up picture of the shoe.  Hope you'll give it a try!  Smiles, Stacey

Water Stamping Card

Created by Stacey Cogswell
Copyright Stampin'Up!

Do you see the technique called Water Stamping on Splitcoaststampers on August 8th?  I did and I just had to try it with my stamp set called Flowering Flourishes.  The tutorial on Splitcoaststampers used a wet paper towel as the ink pad, but I found that if I misted the stamp with water before stamping that the image came through better.  As always, the card looks so much better in person.  Someday I hope to have a photo booth in my craft room, until then I'll keep trying to get a better pictures.  For this card used the stamp sets Lacy & Lovely (large flower) and Pursuit of Happiness (greeting)   I even stamped the inside of the card.   Check out the tutorial on Splitcoaststampers and then give it a try......I'd love to see what you create!

Googly Ghouls Class Projects

Created by Stacey Cogswell
Copyright Stampin'Up!

These are the projects we'll be making in my Googly Ghouls Class on September 14th and 15th. We will be using the Googly Ghouls Designer Bundle to create all of these fun goodies.
The card uses the spinning penny technique which makes little Frankie move...pretty cool.  The treat bag and the treat pocket both are heat embossed using a home made mixture of Black and Iridescent Ice embossing powder. All of the projects just pop when the googly eyes are added.
If you'd like more information about this class, including cost and deadlines, please email me at

Cards from Friends

Created by Elsie Schmidt
Copyright Stampin'Up!

This card might take you back a few years.....do you remember this stamp set?  I do!  I can't remember the name of it, but love it!   I also love the technique used on this card.  Can you guess how she made the leaves on the background paper?  Let me give you a few hints.  It goes on clear, but then turns white.  It's a little smelly and people often use it as a cleaning product.  Have you figured it out?  It's bleach!  Just create an "ink pad" by placing a paper towel on a plate and add a little bleach.  The stamp is then "inked" up with he bleach before stamping to the paper.  Thanks Elsie for reminding me of this great technique!

I received this great card in the mail today from a family friend.   I love the way she used the folded up doily to create the central element.  I don't have this die......but I might "need" to get it now!

Enjoy,
Stacey

My favorite swap card

Created by Stacey Cogswell
Copyright Stampin'Up!

This was the swap card that I spent days making.  It was brayered first, then masked and sponged, misted with Smooch spray to make it sparkle and then stamped stamped.  But I did stop there, I then stamped the lion two more times, cut out one with the entire body and then just the head with mane.  Each of these layers where added with a dimensional to really make it pop up.  Four mats where added and lastly I colored some of our basic pearls with black Stazon ink and added them in the corner.  The picture really doesn't do it justice.  It really turned out great and I hope everyone the received one felt the special care I put into each an every one.....25 to be exact!

My convention swaps

Created by Stacey Cogswell
Copyright Stampin'Up!

Here are two for my swaps.  Both where made using the stamp set Betsy's Blossoms.  The large flower on the 3x3 card was stamped in Versa Mark and embossed with the Cherry scented embossing powder.  I then stamp a second flower in Raspberry Ripple and punched it out with the 1 1/4" circle punch.  It was matted with a Gumball Green circle and added tot he card.  The greeting was stamped and then cut out with the new banner framelit.

The larger card was stamped first with the smaller flowers, then I stamped the larger flower and punched it out with the large scallop punch.  The leaves and center flower where stamped and cut out before placing them on the card.

To finish each of the cards I added a little something "extra."  A dahlia button flower on one and the large pearl on the other.  Such a simple little thing, but just the right thing to take the card form o.k. to fabulous!

Simple Butterfly Card

Created by Stacey Cogswell
Copyright Stampin'Up!

I saw a version of this card at convention and just knew I had to try to make one myself with my new butterfly punch.  It's pretty simple, but it did take a little figuring to get the strips the right size, so to make it easier for you, here are the measurements.  Each strip is 1 1/2" wide and vary in length.  They are 3", 2 1/4" and 2 3/4" long and when you punch the butterfly you put the center (butterfly head) notch just barely onto the paper.  Stamp three butterflies and adhere below strips.  Pretty cute.

Enjoy,
Stacey

What to do with those wood blocks

Are you one of those people that have started converting your stamps to clear mount and don't know what to do with all the wood blocks?  Well, check out what my friend Pat Brannin did.  She turned them into Christmas tree ornaments!  Each side has the same stamped reindeer, but you could also use them for a family photo.  What a great idea, better than using them for kindling, which is the only this I've come up with!

MDS Calendar

Made by Wendy Knowles
This fun calendar was given to me by up up up line Wendy Knowles.  She made one each of her downline that attended convention.  It's hard to see in the picture, but she started the calendar with July 2012, so I'll have an entire year to use it.  What's really cool about it is that it folds flat, so they could be made and mailed.  I might have to learn how to use MDS (My digital Studio) so I can made a few of these.

Each day at the momento mall, if you purchased something, we recieved two blocks of free fabric.  I love fabric, but I love free fabric even more!   I was really blessed to get a great Stampin'Up! worker and he really loaded me up.  I came home with 15 boxes, enough to make a least one quilt, maybe two.
