Back to School

Today was Zach's official first day of the 8th grade, so I thought it would be fun to make him something special.  I saw a verison of this card on the blog "Think Outside the Box" and thought it was so cute.  Of course I had to change it around to use Stampin'Up! products and what would be more perfect than the apple image from the new stamp set in the Holiday mini on page 29 called Perfectly Preserved!  Second, I saw the "pencil" somewhere, but I can't remember where, but thought it was a great idea.  The "pencil" is actually a roll of Rolo candies with a candy kiss on top.  Super easy to make, just roll the paper around the Rolo tube and write something clever on the side.  The hardest part was making the "lead", but what I did was take 1/2" circle punch of paper, cut a slit into the middle and then rolled it into a cone shape.  Zach was pretty excited to have these at his desk, otherwise known as the kitchen table, this morning when he arrived to start school.  He did remark that the card looked more like a pencil that had been almost used up in comparison to the other pencil, but oh well.

Hope you had a great day, school or no school!

Smiles,
Stacey
